Walk Alone
I am a child of man
In a place where man doesn’t exist
I walk among the other races
Unable to understand
Or even begin to comprehend
To them I am an oddity
Something small and weak and frail
And to some a tasty morsel
Some allow me to walk among them
They know I am no threat
Others they have stalked me
Hunted me for days
Searching for my weakness
That has nearly stopped though
Killing a couple seemed to detour them
I walk alone knowing no fear
These animals, these monsters can sense it
It attracts them like a sickness
I have watched it happen
They circle round and torment the ill
Only after that do they kill
When the poor beast is filled with fear
I have no fear
Not here not now
This is my home
These are my neighbors
My only companions
And so I walk among them
Unwilling and unable to fear
Loneliness closing in
